A solid-color mini dress with a V neck and three-quarter sleeves in a vintage cut. Three-quarter sleeves stop below the elbow, which keeps them out of the way when you reach or carry a bag. Compared with a sleeveless mini, they give more coverage for sun and cool rooms.

A beach holiday, a city sightseeing day and an outdoor lunch each work well. Retro runners and a belt bag make sightseeing comfortable, while pearl studs take the dress toward lunch. In warm weather it works alone; on cooler days, a thin knit or a trench can go on top. Bike shorts underneath keep a short hem comfortable on walking days.
